KETU IN ASTROLOGY

 KETU
KETU'S EFFECTS IN LIFE

Ketu is just a point in the solar system. It is invisible and hence it is called as shadow planet. Ketu is also known
by the names as Dragon's tail and Descending Node.
The planet Ketu is a cruel planet although it has a spiritual aspect to it as well. It is also responsible for various
kinds of mishappenings in life especially those incidents which occur suddenly like accidents etc.
When conjoined with benefic house, it gives positive results while being with malefic planets, the results may
be negative. Ketu increases the positive effects of house where it is situated.
The planet Ketu also forms various bad Yogas when it is in conjunction with other planets. Ill-placed Ketu also
provides many bad results in the life of native just like Rahu but the intensity of the bad results are lower in
comparison to Rahu. Ketu is milder in comparison of Rahu. Ill placed Ketu creates many hurdles and breaks in
the life of natives. But there is a positive side also in it. Ketu is considered to be a great provider of spirituality.
Strong influence of Ketu leads the person towards the detachment with the worldly matters and leads him or
her towards salvation. Ketu induces strong religious feelings in the native and provides ultimate peace to the
soul.

MITHOLOGY

Ketu is what remains of the body of Rahu.
Ketu is a headless half-planet, shadowy as Rahu and malefic, though not as malefic as Rahu. It is therefore
considered a moksha-karak (cause of liberation from the cycle of birth and death). It bestows spiritual
tendencies, ascetism and nonattachment to worldly desires and ambitions.
Ketu is also a half-planet that bestows wisdom, powers of discrimination, and gyana - spiritual knowledge, the
knowledge of the self. It gives psychic abilities to its natives and makes them masters of the healing arts, natural
healing, healing herbs, spices, foods, tantric healing, healing of persons possessed by evil spirits, ghosts and
astral forces. Ketu natives also have the ability to go unnoticed or merge into the crowd of common folk.
Ketu's effects are similar to those of Mars, but this is only one way of describing the malefic effect and power of
Ketu.
Ketu can be more destructive if it is inauspiciously positioned in the horoscopes. Ketu destroys the potency of
the planet with which it is conjunct making the planet behave in an uncontrollable manner. It is tamasik, of
hybrid generation, malefic, awful, and devious in nature.
Ketu is neither feminine nor masculine, wind-dominated, aged, powerful at night, animalistic, obsessive,
compulsive and unconscious in behavior. It is associated with a smoky-grey colour and Ketu's gemstone is cat'seye.
Ketu rules number 7 in indian numerology.

RAHU IN ASTROLOGY

RAHU

Rahu also called as Dragon's Head or Ascending Node. It is a shadow planet which means that
it does not have any physical existence. Even then the positive as well as negative effects of
planet Rahu are very profound on human lives and have been very well documented in our
Ancient sacred texts and unfavorable planet Rahu can cause all kinds of problems,
obstructions, failures, illness and confusions which might lead to a very miserable life. Even
when planet Rahu is in conjunction with planets like Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Moon and Sun, it
forms various bad Yogas which can result in all kinds of troubles in a person's life.
Rahu is the planet of intuition and may be called the master of manipulation. Rahu can be
considered to be expert among the planets when it comes to scheming and plotting that is
why it can be said to be the better politician than Saturn. Rahu is the luck factor behind instant
success or failure, its result both good and bad manifests in such an unexpected manner that
the native involved hardly has any time to react to the situation.
According to the ancient Vedic system, nature has three major gunas- rajsic, satvic and tamsic.
Rahu can function in all the three modes. Rahu gives prosperity when functions in a rajsic
mode, Rahu gives knowledge and wisdom when functions in a satvic mode, Rahu gives inertia,
inactivity, demonic tendencies and destruction when functions in tamsic mode. Rahu likes the
night time - this is probably the reason why most criminals choose night time for their
activities.
The planet Rahu is said to be EXALTED in zodiac sign Taurus and DEBILITATED in Zodiac sign
Sagittarius in a person's Natal Chart. The planet Rahu gives good results if it is placed in the
3rd, 6th or the 11th house of a person's Natal Chart. Hence, if the planet Rahu is placed in any
other house or it is in a DEBILITATED state or it is in conjunction with other planets then it may
give bad results thereby making it necessary to be pacified. Rahu represents hidden enemies,
wrong diagnosis of illness, Success, Name & Fame, Victory over Enemies & Foreign
connections.

MITHOLOGY:

In the most ancient scriptures on vedic astrology we do not find the names of Rahu and its
counterpart, Ketu. Instead, only seven planets are mentioned.
The name of Rahu first appears in the Mahabharata, when we read the story of the churning
of the Ocean of Milk in the search for ambrosia - the elixir of immortality known as amrita in
Sanskrit. Rahu was the son of Danava Vipracitti by his wife Simhika, and a brother of Maya
Danava, the great magician and architect.
Rahu and Ketu are two parts of the same danava and are 180° apart from each other.
Whenever either Sun or Moon are conjunct with Rahu or Ketu, a solar or lunar eclipse takes
place.
In astronomy Rahu is considered the dragon's head and is also known as the north node of
Moon, the point where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic. Ketu is known as the dragon's
tail, which gives birth to comets and meteors and is known as the descending or the south
node of the Moon.
When Sun, Moon, and Rahu or Ketu fall in the same zodiacal longitude, a solar eclipse takes
place. Rahu is responsible for solar, Ketu for lunar eclipse. This makes them significant for
astronomers and astrologers both.
Though they are included in planets, Rahu and Ketu are not real luminaries and are regarded
as shadow planets. They do not have ability to cast aspects, as other planets do, they do not
rule any zodiacal signs and are not characterized as male or female.
Because they are related to Moon as its north and south nodes, they reflect the basic
bipolarity of energy within the cosmos and the individual. They are both regarded as malefic
half-planets and they bisect the natal chart of the horoscopes of all individuals. The gemstone
related to Rahu is hessonite. Rahu rules number 4 in indian numerology.

SATURN IN ASTROLOGY

 SATURN

Saturn is one of the beautiful planet of our Solar world. Saturn is considered to be a malefic planet. Sorrow, Pain, Ailments, Death, Journey, Age, Slavery, Sculpture, Arms and Detachment are signified by Saturn.
Saturn is called Yama because it is the chief governor of longevity. Saturn is also called St. Peter holding the keys of both Heaven and Hell. It rules over hard and laborious work as well as over responsible positions in life. Saturn is a planet of delay. Saturn is barren, binding, cold, constant, dry, defensive, hard, nervous and secretive planet.
As per Ancient Vedic Texts, Saturn is a Cruel planet. Astrologically, Saturn is the Lord of Zodiac sign Capricorn and Aquarius. It is Exalted in zodiac sign Libra and Debilitated in zodiac sign Aries. It is said that planet Saturn is a judge of our past deeds. The planet Saturn is a Natural Benefactor of Jobs and Services, Metals, Industries, Age, Poverty, Hardships, Diseases, all kinds of obstacles and selfishness.
A person having weak or a malefic Saturn in his horoscope has to undergo sufferings in all his life and his progress is very slow even with a very hard work. However, if the planet Saturn is favourable in a person's horoscope then he can get very good Success, Name and Fame in his Business / Career especially in those areas that are governed by Saturn like Industries. When Saturn is adverse, it causes many problems, accidents, conflicts, poor financial position, sorrow, sadness, depression, poverty etc. Under such circumstances, a Shani Puja can bring peace and comfort.

If the planet Saturn is in conjunction with planet Rahu, then it forms a bad yoga known as " Shani Rahu Shrapit Dosha " which adversely affects almost all the areas of life and the person's life is full of hardships. Similarly, if the planet Saturn is in conjunction with planet Moon, then it forms another bad yoga known as " Shani Chandra Vish Yoga ". Such a person is very intelligent, yet at times he can fall prey to extreme negativity and depression. In all such cases, a Shani Puja can be extremely beneficial.

A person is said to be under the major affliction of Saturn known as "Saturn Sade Sati" when the planet Saturn is transiting through the 12th, 1st and 2nd house from the Natal Chart Moon, each transit being of approximately two and a half years. A person has to undergo all kinds of hardships during this period including stress, anxiety, tensions, loss of mental peace as well as financial losses. These problems are more profound if the planet Saturn is malefic in the horoscope. Similarly, a person is said to be under the minor affliction of Saturn known as "Small Panoti" when the planet Saturn is transiting through the 4th or 8th house from his Natal Chart Moon. The adverse effects of Small Panoti are also similar to Saturn Sade Sati. In both these afflictions also, a Shani Puja can give an immense relief by the blessings of Lord Saturn.
Mythology:
Shani is the son of Sun and Chhaya. Saturn is a planet, which has been much, wronged and was cursed by his own wife and celestial mother Parvati. In fact after realizing her mistake Maa Parvati gave a boon to Saturn that no important event in the life of a person will occur unless Saturn gives his divine sanctity to that work either by transit or aspect to such relevant house.
He is the elder brother to Yama(the god of death) therefore he plays the role of Yama and can bring an end to life. Therefore, if a bad Dasha is running and at the same time there is an evil transit of Saturn and the age of death have come Saturn will definitely kill. But, Saturn also represents detachment. It has great spiritual value. No saint can take birth without a well-placed and strong Saturn.

Saturn in Psycological Astrology

If the meaning of Jupiter is to develop through expansion, then that of Saturn is to mature through constraint. Its position in the chart can highlight where we encounter loss, frustration and failure, and the emotional pain that this entails. Its experience is usually hard and the value is often not recognised until Saturn's other quality, time, has been allowed to pass.

For many people, especially those who have matured in outlook and vision, Saturn transits can be a beneficial time, where qualities of stability and steady investment in long term planning prove well rewarded. The period can act as a reminder that sacrifices made in the past were fitting and well considered. Saturn will always bring an 'aging' touch, a feeling of getting older and slowing down; sometimes it brings a surprising awareness that we are actually content to give up the dreams and ambitions that drove our passions in the past.

In its negative expression, Saturn only touches those areas of life that have outgrown their purpose and relevance, passed beyond their natural time, or have inappropriately strained against a sense of order which is beneficial to maintain. Like winter, it comes to prune away all that is inhibiting to future growth, and by bringing a period of temporary restraint, it forces us to consolidate our position. Saturn may challenge us to consider the extent to which we, as individuals, are able to stand alone and 'let go' of relationships and material comforts that we have come to love and rely upon. Some of its transits will coincide with periods of loneliness and emotional isolation; some simply carry disappointment as a venture built upon false reality is shown in its true colours. Saturn can often coincide with a period of financial loss or the failure of a business idea, but Saturn didn't necessarily set the seeds for that loss, it only revealed its inevitable conclusion. Saturn deals with reality and forces us to face it.

Because its orbit is so slow, we can predict in general terms the times when Saturn's maturing influence will be felt most keenly. Around the age of seven Saturn squares its natal position and heralds a key phase of child development which witnesses the loss of 'baby teeth'. The opposition occurs around 14 years, when we enter puberty with the loss of childhood. The next square occurs around 21 years, when we move away from adolescence and begin life as an adult, though true maturity is not said to begin until after the 'Saturn return', which falls around the ages of 29-30. Most people experience an important change at this time, often accompanied with loss, sadness and depression. Only with the gift of hindsight do we see how we emerge from the event feeling somewhat older, but mainly a great deal wiser.

Saturn's Rulerships

The Sun is seen as the planet of creativity, light and life - Saturn, the Lord of Death, is viewed as its enemy. As the Sun rules Leo, and governs the height of summer, Saturn takes rulership of the signs that govern midwinter, Capricorn (its nocturnal home) and Aquarius (its diurnal home). Saturn is a diurnal planet and therefore more openly expressive in Aquarius than Capricorn.

Capricorn and Aquarius correspond to the depths of winter, when life is inclined towards hibernation and activities are impeded by the cold, dark environment. This is a time of particular concern for the elderly and weak, although all of us are more susceptible to feelings of weariness and depressed vitality. Most of the world's population lives in the northern hemisphere where the influence of Saturn dominates the natural world at this time of year. The trees are bare, the ground is hard, nature presents us with a hostile environment and the Sun's light is weak and short-lived. In protection our clothing is heavy, inhibitive to free movement and the absorption of vitamin D and uplifting steroids and nutrients derived from the Sun's light. The result is that we feel sluggish and prone to illness and debilitating colds. Winter is a melancholy time and Saturn governs the melancholic temperament.

Details About Planet Mercury

MERCURY

Mercury is the smallest and rediant planet of solar system. As per Ancient Vedic Texts, Mercury is considered as Prince of the Solar System. Mercury is nearest to planet Sun and it is a natural benefactor of Business and Speech. The planet Mercury is the Lord of zodiac sign Gemini and Virgo. The planet Mercury is EXALTED in sign Virgo and DEBILITATED in sign Pisces.
Mercury is auspicious when it is in company with benefic planets. Similarly, it gives inauspicious effects when it is situated with malefic planets. Mercury by itself is always auspicious. Debilitated Mercury combined with Sun is considered inauspicious.

Mythology:

According to the Linga Purana, Mercury is the son of the Moon by his wife Rohini.
Yet in the Vishnu Purana, Brahma Purana, Devi Bhagvata Bhagwat Purana, Harivansha Purana, Padma Purana and Vayu Purana a story is told of the seduction of Brahaspati's (Jupiter's) wife Tara by the Moon - and Buddha is born from her. He is called Saumya, that is, "Son of Soma [Moon]." From Buddha springs the lunar race. The Moon, being his father, is friendly toward him, but Mercury knows that he is son of the wife of Jupiter and so he is in conflict with the Moon, who seduced his mother.
Mercury is sexless and neutral and is a cold and moist planet. Being a neutral planet it changes according to its placement in a sign and house, and that is why it is said to have a "mercurial" nature. Because it is nearest to the Sun it is restless, which also makes it quick-changing, fickle, and often retrograde. Mercury sometimes precedes the Sun and sometimes follows it.

Mercury can be seen in the morning and evening as a shining star and sometimes even during the day because of its power of radiation. Mercury is the smallest planet of our solar system. Being adaptable, it becomes malefic when conjunct with Mars and makes its natives nervous, overly excit-able, and insecure.
Mercury rules education, writers, lecturers, artists, teachers, traders, businessmen, the nervous system, lungs, and intestines. It rules intelligence, speech, self-confidence, humor, wit, astrology, mathematics, and short journeys.

As a lord of Gemini Mercury has two faces : it gives a double nature and makes one detached and independent as well as an extremist. Its color is the green of a blade of fresh grass.
Mercury is dominated by the three doshas wind, bile, and mucus, all rajasic. Earth is its element, it is a merchant by nature, shudra by caste, lover of humor and wit, ever green, weak in body constitution, delicate, having mixed feelings. Mercury loves the company of learned people, and is the lord of the direction North.
The day related to Mercury is Wednesday, while the gemstone related to Mercury is emerald. Mercury rules number 5 in indian numerology.

The planet Mercury represents Education, Intelligence, Business, Friends, Speech, Mathematics, Salesmanship, Brokerage, Journalism, Banking, Skin, Astrology, Lawyer, Publishers & Writers.
Whenever planet Mercury is placed in its own sign or in its EXALTATION sign, in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house of the horoscope, it forms a very good Yoga known as Bhadra Panch Mahapurush Yoga which makes a person very intelligent and long lived.

A person with a weak or malefic Mercury suffers from diseases of Nerves, Brain, Nervous Breakdown, Skin Diseases, Speech defects like Stammering, Insomnia and Sexual Weakness like Impotency.
Those who are weak at studies, lack concentration and suffer from blood pressure and sugar problem etc., should worship Mercury. Also those running Mercury Dasha or Sub-period, a prayer to Mercury, on Wednesdays, brings in manifold benefits like removing obstacles, progeny, possession of fertile lands, etc.

Role Of Mercury In Astrology

Mercury is nearest to the Sun. In Vedic Astrology this is called Budh which means cleverness. This planet represents the qualities of intelligence, wit and humor in a person. Mercury is considered a benefic planet but under some situations it may play a role of malefic planet. Mercury placed in 6th, 8th or 12th houses fails to deliver good results. The same is the result when Mercury is the lord of 6th, 8th or 12th houses in a horoscope.

Mercury is the planet of communication and it represents the fields related to commerce, trade, accounts, banking, and computers. A Strong Mercury denotes success in these fields. People with Mercury in strong position in their chart have sharp thinking but inborn anxiety and indecisiveness also.

Mercury is dual natured planet and governs two zodiac signs namely Gemini and Virgo. Body parts that are ruled by Mercury are the arms, ear, lungs and nervous system.

Mercury believes in logic. People with strong Mercury in their horoscopes possess the excellence of reasoning and analytic ability. Researchers also have strong Mercury in their natal chart.

Telephone and Telegraph controls means of communication too; therefore Mercury also governs the work related to telephone, telegraphs, e-mails, couriers and post etc. Therefore well-placed, strong mercury is usually seen in horoscopes of writers, astrologers, mathematician, engineer, dealers, brokers, businessmen (a person with Mercury in strong position in their chart is undeniably charming and shrewd), and media persons. Mercury also develops verbal communication and hand skills. Hence many lecturers, artists, sculptors and salesmen are also the result of well-placed mercury.

An excellently placed one can bestow one with great courage and aura, and may take that person to the position of a defence services Chief. If Mars, however, is not as strong, but still has a decent amount of strength, it can make a native a Policeman.

If Mars is connected to the Sun and Ketu through an aspect or Conjunctions in a Horoscope, then the native shall be connected to those professions where Fire, Heat etc. are involved. Industries and areas where things like boilers, ovens, furnaces, heaters, heavy machinery, metal moulding involving fierce heat application etc. are involved in day to day functioning would attract such people.

Mars and Mercury can make a native connected to property and real estate dealings. Mars and the Sun together can make one a big officer and also wealthy and rich (as, both are Kshatriya grahas {or warrior planets} and male planets, and are connected to the Governance).

Mars and Moon together (with Mars at a higher degree, astrolgically) can make one a constructor, involved especially in building bridges and over-bridges over water-bodies. If along with this combination, the Sun is also strong in a Horoscope, then the native may go on to acquire major government contracts (Tenders) for executing building work.

Also, as aforementioned, a strongly benefic Mars will make the native a “Purushaarthi” – generaous, courageous and hard working, and will bestow one with great organisational capabilities.

If Mars, Sun and Jupiter are all strong in a Horoscope, then one may also become the “Defence Minister” or may reach an equally high position, in a similar area/ capacity.

A strong, well-placed Mars in a Kundli increases one’s intelligence, courage and bravery, but simultaneously shall enhance one’s brutal, cruel and aggressive tendencies.

Talking of an ill-placed Mars, if a debilitated Mars is placed in the Lagna (Ascendant/ the 1st House of the Horoscope) or is aspecting the same, with Saturn or Rahu aspecting Mars itself, then native may be involved in violence, illegal activities and fire explosions.
Mars placed in the 11th House in a Horoscope makes the native sell his goods at low price (low profit margins), so that there is a fast rotation in turnovers.
However, irrespective of any kind of placement, whether in its own Sign, Exalted or Debilitated, if Mar is aspected by a Malefic planet, then it will make the native a cruel and querulous person, who fights unnecessarily, who does not care for his own reputation, and who tends to reach his ends by hook or crook.

DETAILS ABOUT PLANET JUPITER IN ASTROLOGY

JUPITER-THE GURU OF ALL PLANET

Jupiter is the thinking-person's planet. As the guardian of the abstract mind, this planet rules higher learning, and bestows upon us a yen for exploring ideas, both intellectually and spiritually. Intellectually speaking, Jupiter assists us in formulating our ideology. In the more spiritual realm, Jupiter lords over religions and philosophy. A search for the answers is what Jupiter proposes, and if it means spanning the globe to find them, well, that's probably why Jupiter also rules long-distance travel. In keeping with this theme, Jupiter compels us to assess our ethical and moral values; it also addresses our sense of optimism.

Luck and good fortune are associated with Jupiter for good reason. This is a kind and benevolent planet, one that wants us to grow and flourish in a positive way. Jupiter may be judge and jury, but it's mostly an honorable helpmate, seeing to it that we're on the right path. While our success, accomplishments and prosperity are all within Jupiter's realm, this largesse can, at times, deteriorate into laziness and sloth (Jupiter, at its worst, is associated with weight gain!). More often than not, however, Jupiter will guide us down the primrose path.

 Mythology of Planet Jupiter

Jupiter represents 'Dhakshinamurthi God' to dispel darkness and ignorance, and to endow wisdom. It is said to be the 'Devta Guru' or 'Mentor of Deities' comprising nature of a teacher. Dakshinamurthi God resembles the Hindu God Shiva and is worshiped as the God of wisdom, meditation, and purity. "Dakshinamurthi" is Sanskrit word comes from combined words "Dakshina (South)" and Murthi (Stone image), which means "one who is facing south'. This Lord is very popular in South India, especially in Tamil Nadu states. Some believers also regard it as "Narayan". In ancient Greek mythology, planet Jupiter is "ZEUS"- the father of the Gods; Egyptians regards it as "Ammon", and Babylonians and Chaldeans call it "Merodach". Jupiter is considered to be the Lord of Righteousness and Justice. It is also the symbol of wisdom.
Place of Jupiter in Astrology

It has a full aspect on the fifth, seventh and ninth house. The houses that are aspected by Jupiter yield benefic results for the native but the house that has Jupiter does not yield benefic results. It becomes very effective (Yoga karaka) in Sagittarius and Pisces because the houses it aspects and the house in which it takes position are both beneficial. If it's in Virgo or Gemini it becomes harmful for the person.

Place of Jupiter in Palmistry
There is a place on the palm that's marked as ‘Mount of Jupiter'. It is located below the index finger of our hand and is guarded by Saturn, Mars and Rahu. The position of the mount in Palmistry is of great importance. If there are symbols of squares or circles in this mount then the person gets success in literary and financial field. They are very ambitious and intelligent. They chose their life partners by their own and if any line crosses the mount of Jupiter from the Luck-Line then the person becomes successful and famous in society.
